New comments in the press recently on the results from a 2003 clinical trial from the United States into long-acting relievers (LABAs) have caused concern with some asthmatics. Dr. Pat Manning, Chair of the Asthma Society of Ireland Medical Committee has stressed the importance of prescribed inhaled asthma medicines in the management and treatment of asthma. He has appealed to people with asthma not to stop taking their prescribed medication and to discuss any concerns they may have with their GP or asthma nurse.
